Nova Scotia

NOVA SCOTIA TRIP

Hope this poem brings things back.

How we always went off track.

How the weather was well planned.

But Ron's knees did not get tanned.

This is poem number two,

About our holidays with you.

We arrived at different times,

In Halifax in the Maritimes.

WELCOME TO NOVA SCOTIA

We thought a van would suit us most,

For our journey round the coast.

It had room for all the cases,

As we went to different places.

And Tim Horton's doughnut shop,

Again became our favorite stop.

Because the special wasn't on,

We took it hard, especially Ron.

HALIFAX HARBOUR TOUR DUCK

And as his face was out of joint,

We awarded him a point.

The boy's points added up at will,

With the girls score remaining nil.

They couldn't score at any cost,

Because each day they got us lost.

They were in charge of all the maps,

With the driving done by the chaps.

  LUNENBURG CAFE

The men loaded the bags each day,

So got a point, and were on our way.

The main attraction was not a mall,

It was the Mahone Bays festival.

There were many scarecrows there,

Many humorous, but some to scare.

A plant pot man sat in a chair.

And it was one made up each year.

MAHONE BAY, SCARECROW FESTIVAL.

And about nine, in the morning .

We went to an old farm still working.

As we got there at this time,

We didn't have to pay a dime.

We saw the barrel maker there.

With interesting things everywhere.

And when we left the farm we drove,

Along the coast to Peggy's cove.

PEGGY'S COVE, NOVA SCOTIA.

We also saw as we drove,

Erected close to Peggy's Cove,

The beautiful memorial sight.

For that tragic Swiss air flight.

Tim Horton's coffee we didn't see.

So we settled for the gift stores tea.

We then looked around the store.

Then around the cove once more.

PEGGY'S COVE CAFE AND GIFT STORE

There were boat sheds painted blue.

Really well kept and looking new.

Near the cove for all to see.

A carving honoring those at sea.

This was such a pretty sight,

And on a hill, there stood the light.

It was a light to guard the coast,

But now its part of Canada Post.

CARVED AT PEGGY'S COVE.
Honoring the fishermen.

Also, you may recall no doubt,

Rita's tea rooms with the power out.

Inside it was closed and dark,

So there was lots of room to park.

 PEGGY'S COVE LIGHTHOUSE.
This is now a Post Office

There was a ferry to P.E.I.

We came back on the bridge so high.

It is so long, a nine-mile link,

It was amazing don't you think?

There were many other sights,

Finding dinner spots at nights.

Seeing all the coloured trees.

But we missed seeing Ron's knees.

NOVA SCOTIA CAFE
Lobster pots are used to advertise the industry

Here are things that I have missed.

Like the mailbox Sheila kissed.

He was standing, oh, so tall,

I couldn't see the flower at all.

Like the problem with the tire.

And the ferries pulled by wire.

It was such a slow way to go.

But we just went with the flow.

Why was the seashore on our right?

When we went searching for a light.

We should have gone the other way,

But we go where the girls say.

ONE OF THE MANY MAIL BOXES.

Cards

We saw these things as we went bye.

The Fundy tides that are so high.

You could tell they're record tides,

They use the banks for buggy rides.

Another sight we were to see,

When we got off the Island ferry,

Prince Edward Island's rich red soil.

Growing all those spuds we boil.

BAY OF FUNDY
The highest tides in the world.

We also saw Anne's little farm,

Called Green Gables with its charm.

Is it one of those great fables,

The story of, Anne of Green Gables.

The stilts Bear River was built on,

Looked so strange with the water gone.

It was along the Evangeline Trail ,

With some great boxes just for mail.

LOBSTER POT JUST FOR MAIL.

 BEAR RIVER, NOVA SCOTIA.
The buildings or stilts over the sea.

The mannequins were everywhere.

Even tour buses pulled up there.

When we returned to Halifax,

You had some time to just relax.

It was a shame this had to end,

Let's plan another one my friend.

It should be friends but as you see,

That doesn't rhyme, and it's up to me.
